WHO CARES ABOUT MUNGWI?
God does ! Mungwi is a place about 30 km from Kasama in the nothern Province of Zambia . It’s a quiet and peaceful place with a warm and loving Community . At first glance , mungwi does not present a strong rural lifestyle , but all around , it quickly drifts into the typical adverse conditions of rural life. It is in this place that Pastor Paul Mukalula and his family minister in Mungwi Assembly of God church. In 3 years he has seen God do amazing things , both for his family and for the church as a whole. The church oversees 7 branch churches spread out in the villages . Bicycles are the main form of transportation and consequently there is a great need for bicycles , tubes and tyres which would go a long way in aiding visitations , follow-ups and evangelism .Pastor Paul burns with a passion to see the gospel preached , more churches planted and lives lifted from the gloom and destructive effects of poverty .

BUILDING GOD'S HOUSE

New Mungwi Assembly of God Church building

When Pastor Paul took up the ministry as pastor of Mungwi Assembly ,he immediately began to challenge his members about moving out of the classroom in which they were meeting and press towards building their own one thousand seater church .with very little money the majority of members living in povery and others filled with scepticism , it all looked impossible . Pastor Paul , however , never let go of his vision .

Today, that vision is on its way to being a reality ! Construction of the church building began in June 2000 . Through the support of well wishing believers and the sacrifice of members , the building is now at roof level and is an inspiring sight . However , there is still so much to be done . At present , there is need for roofing materials and about 100 pockets of cement for the slab and drainage soak aways all of which should cost an estimated figure of about 15 –20 million Kwacha. The cry of the church is that this work be completed as soon as possible . To the glory of God , this work must be completed . Will you be a part of this work ? Whatever you can contribute towards this noble cause would be greatly appreciated. Join us , and let us build God’s house .
TESTIMONES
BY B J SANDALA

A TIMELY VISIT
One day we went to the market for evangelism , and to have my sandals fixed . As I waited for my sandals to be ready , I began speaking to some young men about Christ. A young man named Saviour Nkhoma joined in on the conversation and spoke of Christ with great conviction and diligence . I found out later that he was visiting at Pastor Paul’s church and was due to leave in a few days time . I invited him home and he shared with me his desire to serve the Lord in ministry . We talked about ministry and God’s call.

Through out the conversation we could sense the Lord’s presence in peace , joy and prophetic guidance. After a lovely time of prayer , Saviour sat there weeping in humble submission to the Lord and in appreciation for such a timely visit. Saviour hopes to go to Bible College and serve the Lord full time in ministry . His prayer is the he find believers who can sponsor him to achieve his desire to be more equipped as he endevours to fulfil God’d purpose for his life . Wouldn’t you like to be a part of such a young man’s dream ?

LEARNING TO GIVE
A young man named Chama walked up to me and said he had a problem . He said he had serious trouble giving to the Lord. Not only did he give little when he could give much , at times he wouldn’t give at all , since he thought , God didn’t need the money himself did he ? As a child he had wrongly been taught that Christ was more pleased with the widow who gave little, simply because she gave little . Much as that may sound silly , it did shape his attitude towards giving. After explaining the story more accurately and sharing with him the blessings that accompany giving and how that it is commanded by God , he was glad and thanked me for explaining what he described as “ the secret behind our giving “ what a joy it was to see another child of God set free from misconceptions about giving .

SHARING WITH THOSE IN NEED
Friends Ministries had been requested by Pastor Paul to consider bringing some second hand clothes to give to those who were in need of such help. We asked believers to look around in their homes and sure enough there was something to give! Faces were bright with appreciation as each beloved child of God received their blessing of clothes . To those who gave , we convey their thanks and ask that God richly bless them. It reminds us of the words “ suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food . If one of you says to him go , I wish you well ; keep warm and well fed , but does nothing about his physical needs , what good is it ? “ James 2:15,16. Praise the Lord for such a loving gift , for we ought to share with those in need.

CYCLING TO JOY
We had the opportunity to visit one of the branch churches called Faith Assermbly . We had to cycle there on bicycles for about an hour or more and were overjoyed to find the believers there already gathered and worshiping the Lord in anticipation of our arrival. It was a joy to slip straight into that meeting , forgetting the tiring ride we had just experienced. We praise God for the warm and loving fellowship we experienced there , deep in the villages of Zambia

MINISTRY PROJECTS THAT NEED SUPPORT
FMI has projects that it embarks on and others that it identifies in the various places we go, that need your support.

  • The building project in Mungwi . They currently are in need of about US $ 6000.00 to complete the roofing, slab, drainage and plastering. Support to this project could either be given through this ministry or directly to Pastor Mukalula and the church (if you desire the latter, we request only that you inform us, so as to up-date our information)
  • We need to purchase a vehicle that is suitable for use on rough roads and has a sitting capacity of at least 15 passengers. Having our own transportation will enable us to go on scouting trips, and reach places that are much further from the main roads.
  • We need to acquire a PA System, musical equipment, power generator and camping tents to facilitate ministry especially in the rural areas.
